The term “Slipped Disc” has become so prevalent a term used to describe a herniated disc, search engines such as Google Search know to present herniated disc content listings when someone searches for something like “Slipped Disc Treatment”.
A herniated disc is a condition in which the annulus fibrosus (outer portion) of the vertebral disc is torn, enabling the nucleus (inner portion) to herniate or extrude through the fibers. It is relatively rare in the thoracic region of the spine. Pain from a herniated disc is a complex and painful personal experience. It is a prevalent source of neck, arm, back, and leg pain typically seen in adults between 30 and 50 years of age.
