Chiropractic Treatment For Neck Whiplash Injury!
Car accidents are common causes of neck whiplash injury. Treatment for whiplash injuries, minor or severe, is critical because neck pain can impact your activity level for the rest of your life. After the injury, your muscles, ligaments, and joints get inflamed which causes pain, spasms and – with time – scar tissue formation.
This process leads to the chronic pain and stiffness that are associated with neck whiplash pain.In order to relieve your current pain and help avoid future episodes of pain and stiffness is to get whiplash treatment for your car accident injuries as soon as possible. Every time you are in public you will see people who have to turn their whole body in order to be able to see behind them.Whiplash and neck pain go hand in hand because the muscles in the neck are small and unable to withstand the g-forces that are generated during a car accident.
Neck Strain and Whiplash
Neck strain is often just called whiplash. Although it’s usually associated with car accidents, any impact or blow that causes your head to jerk forward or backward can cause neck strain. The sudden force stretches and tears the muscles and tendons in your neck.
Neck strain afflicts many amateur and professional athletes. People who play contact sports like football are especially prone to neck strain.
Neck strains are often confused with neck sprains. They’re a bit different. Neck strains are caused by damage to the muscle or the tendons, bands of tissue that connect muscles to bones. Neck sprains are caused by tearing of the ligaments, the tissues that connect the bones to each other.
However, the differences between these strains and sprains probably won’t mean much to you. The causes, symptoms, and treatment of neck sprains and neck strains are usually the same. Read more here.
During the whiplash phase of a car accident, the muscles and ligaments that move and support the neck are overstretched and sometimes whiplash treatment turn which causes pain, stiffness and in many cases disability.
Whiplash: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments
Whiplash, or WAD (whiplash-associated disorders) refers to a series of neck injuries caused by or related to a sudden distortion of the neck – hyperextension (over-extension) injury to the neck. In many cases whiplash is the result of being struck from behind, for example, by a fast moving vehicle in an automobile accident.
Causes of whiplash injuries
A whiplash injury may occur if the head is moved violently away from the body because of a sudden and powerful jerk or jolt. The neck moves beyond its normal range of movement, resulting in overstretched ligaments, muscles and tendons. The injury is often exacerbated because the muscles, in order to compensate for the sudden movement, pull the head back into position too hard, causing another overstretching in the opposite direction.
The jolt (or blow to the head) can come from behind, in front, and from the side. A slow-speed collision may also cause a whiplash injury.
Possible causes of whiplash:
- Automobile accidents
- A sudden blow to the head from a contact sport, such as rugby, boxing, karate, or American football.
- A horse riding or cycling accident. Check more here.
For many of these people, the stiffness in their neck is due to scar tissue formation and muscle tightness that was caused by past injuries.
